Fatal Traffic Accident

On 03/29/07, at about 10:06 p.m., Bakersfield Police responded to the intersection of Wilson Road and South “H’ Street for a major injury traffic accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed a Nissan Altima was traveling south in the north lanes of South ‘H’ Street. As the Nissan approached Wilson Road, a silver GMC Envoy was traveling south on Wilson Road. The GMC made a northbound turn onto South ‘H’ Street and was struck head-on by the Nissan.

Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Kern Medical Center. The driver of the Nissan later died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the GMC sustained minor injuries. The drivers were the sole occupants of both vehicles.

The driver of the Nissan was a 20 year old male from Bakersfield. The driver of the GMC was a 28 year old female from Bakersfield.

It appears the driver of the Nissan had consumed some type of alcoholic beverage prior to the accident. This accident will be reconstructed b accident investigators from the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Section. Investigation is continuing.
